  When a Stranger Calls (2006)

A remake of the 1979 Columbia Pictures cult horror film, which starred Carol Kane as a high school student traumatized while babysitting by a caller who repeatedly asks, "Have you checked the children lately?" In a remote hilltop house, high school student JILL JOHNSON (Camilla Belle) settles in for a routine night of babysitting. With the children sound asleep and a beautiful home to explore, she locks the door and sets the alarm. But when a series of eerie phone calls from a STRANGER insists that she "check the children," Jill begins to panic. Fear escalates to terror when she has the calls traced and learns that the calls are coming from inside the house. Jill must summon all of her inner strength if she is going to fight back and make it out of the house alive.

When a Stranger Calls Movie Review by Tony (5/25/2006)

Every year for the past 3 years, and now 4, I recommend a horror film that really gets people wondering just what the hell was I thinking. I get e-mails asking if I am drunk, or taking drugs. The answer to both is NO. In 2003, it was TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. In 2004, it was SAW. In 2005, it was HOUSE OF WAX. Now in 2006, I...

We've all had the experiences of being home alone at night or babysitting someone's children at night. And if being weighed down with the responsibility wasn't enough, you are alone in a strange house at night. You never really expect the phone to ring, except maybe once every few hours, the parents just checking how the...

When a Stranger Calls Movie Review by DAT (2/24/2006)

It had potential. It just seems like all the work put into it went to the house itself. The house was creepy, and with that they could have worked with the story itself, but they didnt.

although it delivers in scares and the final act was okay, the rest was so and so
