The Ringer (2005)
Desperate for cash to help a friend in need and pay off his smarmy uncle's gambling debts, Steve Barker sinks to an all time low...he attempts to fix the Special Olympics by pretending to be a person with intellectual disabilities. But he is completely out-classed by his fellow Olympians, who are not only superior athletes, they're also wiser in the ways of the world. Several of his fellow competitors immediately spot Steve as a fraud, but because they too would like to see the fall of Jimmy, the snooty reigning champion, they join forces to help The Ringer win. Together they train Steve to become a better athlete and, most importantly, a better man. (read more)

And...

He was the director of 2000's wresting documentary BEYOND THE MAT. This time he decides to direct feature length with the comedy, THE RINGER. He should have searched a little harder...

The Special Olympics needs a new agent.
Steve Barker (Johnny Knoxville) is stuck in a low level job. He gets up the courage to ask for more responsibility and his boss tells him he has to fire a janitor. Long unfunny story short, Steve has to come up with a lot of money to help the janitor, who has now become his...

I was very wary of this film as I work with special needs kids and I couldn't imagine this being anything but offensive. However instead of overly mocking special needs people, this film goes above and beyond to deify them and show them such respect that the movie becomes unrealistic.
Johnny Knoxville plays a man who...
