Transamerica 2005

Bree is a born-again Christian and pre-operative transsexual woman living in L.A. and trying to save up his money to become a woman. One day, he learns that he had fathered a son, Toby, who is now jailed in New York, so Bree flies across the country to get him out of jail. Toby, not realizing that Bree is his father (or a man) instead thinking she's a Christian missionary, is released to Bree's custody, and he agrees to travel with her across country back to L.A., just looking for his chance to escape from her.

Transamerica Movie Review by Zara (6/18/2009)

I remember being absolutely riveted by this movie and the excellent performance that Felicity Huffman did pulling off a believable pre-op man. The story between the man who used to be back in the college, the one time only shot at trying to figure out if there was a possibility that a straight life could be lived if only...

Transamerica Movie Review by Movie Addict (3/14/2007)

I have a sign over the door to my office that I read every single day: "It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are." How many of us have a clue who that is? How many have the courage to follow through once we discover the answer. Like Bree, I still consider myself to be a work in progress. Unlike...

Transamerica Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie (3/5/2007)

A sweet little road film about a father getting to know his son...except that the father is a transsexual and the son doesn't know who his father is. This film falls in places, but is pulled together by a brilliant (and Oscar nominated) performance by Felicity Huffman, as well as great (and largely unrecognized) work by...

Transamerica Movie Review by Kimberly (6/1/2006)

"Transamerica" Rated R, 103 minutes A-

Let me get this out of the way Not to slight Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Huffman was robbed. And now the review.

"Transamerica" is about a journey taken by a father and his seventeen-year-old son whom he just learned existed. On the journey both parties learn about...

Transamerica Movie Review by Tony (5/25/2006)

TRANSAMERICA is a road trip transgender ride that has an equal amount of tears and laughs along this fun ride. Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives fame shows here yes, I'm on a hit TV show, but I can act too. She is a life force as she carries this comedy/drama with her original and heart touching performance. After...
