Junebug 2005
description written by member Zara:
When Madeleine (Embeth Davidtz), a big-city art dealer from Chicago, makes a trip to North Carolina with her new husband, George (Alessandro Nivola), he finally allows her to meet his small-town Southern family -- including his bristly mother, Peg (Celia Weston), reticent father Eugene (Scott Wilson), crabby brother Johnny (Ben McKenzie) and immature sister-in-law Ashley (Amy Adams). Looks like a family with more problems than meet the eye!

I liked this movie only for Amy Adams. In fact, I doubt that anyone would have bothered watching this movie outside of her performance in it, or because she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her part in it. This is a painfully slow, dull and tedious story that doesn't have any resonating characters...

This film is just so sweet, beautiful and real. Every character in it is utterly believable and, despite it's occasionally unsettling content, I think it is a great film for a family to watch together. I defy anyone not to fall in love with Amy Adams.

A sweet little directorial debut from Morrison, Junebug is a realistic film about family reuniting, and a new bride meeting her in-laws. Morrison finds power in the smallest things, shots of quiet trees and houses and air mattresses and bedrooms conveying more emotion than you'd think. This brings with it an inviting sense...

It's time for another Indy film, but this one is not like the others you have seen. There is no one battling depression, taking on doses of medication like candy, or clueless parents who smoke weed or pop pills. Think of this film as a Southern version of "Meet the Fockers". It also features a rocket-buster of a...
