Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Acclaimed director Tim Burton brings his vividly imaginative style to the beloved Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, about eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka and Charlie, a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka's extraordinary factory. Long isolated from his own family, Wonka launches a worldwide contest to select an heir to his candy empire. Five lucky children, including Charlie, draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy-making facility that no outsider has seen in 15 years. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonka's fantastic world in this astonishing and enduring story. (read more)

So the argument was over this movie and not THE CORPSE BRIDE, but I'm still not changing the article. (Sorry, had to make that side note.)
It really bothers me that people are so split on whether or not they liked this movie. It clearly demonstrates for me those people who read the book and those people who were only...

First of all, before I start on my review, there is one thing that I must get out of the way. This is, in no way, shape, or form, a remake of Mel Stuart's beloved 1971 musical Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In fact, the only thing that the two share in common is that they are based on the same book and feature some...

Will I ever love a Tim Burton film that doesn't revolve around a crime-fighting billionare? So far the answer is a heartfelt "No," which is sad because with each film he does, he has me from the begining that quickly loses me with his farce. Burton's previous effort, "Big Fish," I would have loved had it reflected more on...

If you asked me, I couldn't tell you anything that was particularly wrong with the movie. I also could not tell you anything that was particularly right with the movie. Depp played a surprisingly good and different-than-Wilder Wonka and the Oompa Loompa dance/song numbers were great. The child actors were good...
