  Dark Water (2005)

description written by member Zara:

Dahlia Williams (Jennifer Connelly) is starting a new life (with her young daughter in tow) away from her estranged husband. But as a bitter custody battle brews, her already fragile emotional state begins to deteriorate, a situation exacerbated by the weird noises, inexplicable leaks and haunting visions invading her dilapidated apartment. Are the eerie happenings all in Dahlia's head -- or is the building harboring dark secrets from the past?

Dark Water Movie Review by Max (4/15/2006)

What started as a popular film from Japan has spawned an American remake, which is not nearly as good as the original version. The film is very dull and slow moving, with few scares, and when they come, all they do is disappoint. It's a sad thing when a horror film sets the audience up for a scare and then fails to deliver...

Dark Water Movie Review by Matthew (7/12/2005)

About six months ago, it seemed like I saw the trailer for "Dark Water" with every film. Then it was never released. Finally, I heard it was scheduled for release in the summer. During May sweeps, the film was advertised repeatedly. Based on a Japanese film directed by the man who created "Ringu", the Japanese predecessor...

Dark Water Movie Review by Kathleen (7/7/2005)

My first New York apartment was in a row house that must have been saturated with cat pee; the stench was almost visible. Roaches-- the big kind-- literally blanketed the floor every morning, in various states of Raid-induced oblivion. (The record was the morning when we swept up 37 wriggling bodies.) To get to work, it...

Dark Water Movie Review by Joe (6/9/2006)

I'm really irritated about labeling movies like this 'horror.' In my mind, the word 'horror' is associated with hockey-masked killers stalking teenagers in a camp, a clawed figure haunting teenagers in their nightmares, or a white masked killer hunting teenagers in a small town. Dark Water, to me, is more of a...

Dark Water Movie Review by Scott (7/8/2005)

It's a decent thriller but Jennifer Connelly deserves better

When I first heard about "Dark Water," I have to admit right from the start I wanted to see it. The trailer looked suspenseful and the film starred Jennifer Connelly and John C. Riley, both of which are terrific. So last night I decided to check out the reviews...
