  Crash (2005)

A provocative, unflinching look at the complexities of racial conflict in America, CRASH is that rare cinematic event - a film that challenges audiences to question their own prejudices. Diving headlong into the diverse melting pot of post-9/11 Los Angeles, this compelling urban drama tracks the volatile intersections of a multi-ethnic cast, examining fear and bigotry from multiple perspectives as characters careen in and out of one another's lives. No one is safe in the battle zones of racial strife. And no one is immune to the simmering rage that sparks violence - and changes lives... Funny, powerful, and always unpredictable, CRASH boldly explores the gray area between black and white, victim and aggressor...and finds no easy solutions. (read more)

Crash Movie Review by Zara (3/29/2007)

I took forever to watch this movie based on the fact that I'm not always a huge fan of ensemble movies. Too many big name people and it seems like a bit of a joke to me, a movie designed to get butts in the seats with little regard to actually making a good movie.

I finally watched it after it won the Oscar, curling up on...

Crash Movie Review by James (6/14/2006)

Am I the only one who isn't in love with this movie? Listen, the acting's great. Don Cheadle, Mat Dillon and Terrence Howard all are fantastic, but that's not enough to make a movie good. I have one phrase for this flick, "Subtle as a jackhammer." Racism can be dealt with much better skill than just throwing it on the...

Crash Movie Review by Justin (3/10/2006)

What can I say of "Crash" that hasn't yet been offered up? It's the mighty 'little film that could' - an early year release that proved a critical smash, finding a comfortable place on countless top ten lists, and just recently taking the Oscar for Best Picture. It's good -- no question. Edgy and bristling with social...

Crash Movie Review by Seth (5/8/2005)

Strikingly similar to MAGNOLIA, but not as good.

A great cast with great performances (including Ludacris, oddly enough) and a plot that keeps you interested and engaged the whole time. The only problem is, it's not really anything new, if you've seen MAGNOLIA, BOOGIE NIGHTS, or other such films about intersecting lives...

Crash Movie Review by Corey (5/5/2005)

Today, we live in ever increasingly sensitive, sanitized and politically correct times – especially in terms of the mass-produced film, television and news media products offered to our minds for consumption. A racially insensitive figure is quickly snuffed out as evil, cut-and-dry; either you are David Duke or The Pope....
