Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Based on the bestselling book series by Daniel Handler, the "Snicket" saga revolves around a pint-sized trio of orphans named Sunny, Klaus and Violet who find themselves fobbed off on a series of odd people, including Lemony Snicket, who narrates each of what has grown to a series of eight books since Handler debuted the first title in 1999. The recurring bad guy is a distant family relative named Count Olaf, who initially takes in the kids but clearly is trying to separate them from a family inheritance. (read more)

It probably wasn't until I caught this movie a second time while on a plane that I ended up seeing more points in it that were appealing than I did the first time around. The film suffers from being a little over-long, something I think might have come from the producers being worried that the film wouldn't be financially...

If you are looking for a joyful film about three happy children and how they lived life with their loving parents then read no further; this is not that picture. However, if you are in the market for the dismal, depressing, tale of three orphans in a situation most dark then by all means read on, as "Lemony Snicket's A...

This adaptation of the children's books has a lot of really good aspects, but it is not the Tim Burton film it is trying to be.
The children are sweet and quite good actors, but the story gets so caught up in Jim Carrey playing a bunch of roles and Meryl Streep playing in the minor leagues.
The art direction is very good...

I have to say, I'm not a big Jim Carey fan, but I think that he did justice to Count Olaf. They did an AWESOME job with the casting. Even though you'd think that a baby's role isn't that big, the munchkin that played Sunny had great facial expressions that, if you read the books, you could SEE Sunny making.
Another small...
