The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)
Internationally famous oceanographer Steve Zissou and his crew -- Team Zissou -- set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, elusive, possibly non-existant Jaguar Shark that killed Zissou's partner during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. They are joined on their voyage by a young airline co-pilot who may or may not be Zissou's son, a beautiful journalist assigned to write a profile of Zissou, and Zissou's estranged wife and co-producer, Eleanor. They face overwhelming complications including pirates, kidnapping, and bankruptcy. (read more)

Whenever I think of the phrase "grossly underrated," The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou comes to mind. There was much fawning over Anderson's previous two features (and for good reason), Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. Then, for some reason, everybody decided that Anderson sucked. I've heard many complaints about...

I knew Owen Wilson wasn't helping with the writing on...

I'm not a huge fan of Bill Murray but do have respect for him. That being said, I'm really happy that he's not slowly degrading himself by throwing himself into an inevitable "Ghostbusters" re-make. He's stretching himself and making different filims that work, and some that don't.
I believe "Life Aquatic" falls somewhere...

I love Wes Anderson's quirky flicks, such as Rushmore and the Royal Tennenbaums. I am a fan of Bill Murray and Owen Wilson, so I was happy to see them return (as well as Angelica Huston) in quirky roles. Wilem Dafoe adds a few great laughs. The animation came off as cheesy, but the dialogue and situations made up for...
