2046 (2005)
He was a writer. He thought he wrote about the future but it really was the past. In his novel, a mysterious train left for 2046 every once in a while. Everyone who went there had the same intention.....to recapture their lost memories. It was said that in 2046, nothing ever changed. Nobody knew for sure if it was true, because nobody who went there had ever come back - except for one. He was there. He chose to leave. He wanted to change. Picking up where after In The Mood For Love left off, 2046 is a visually seductive reverie of memory and regret, refracted through a serial womanizer's experiences with six women. (read more)

I had to watch this film a couple of times before I dared comment on it. It is a highly original, almost visionary work, and should be judged as such.
There is a tendency by some to compare Chow (Tony Leung) to Bogart's Rick from "Casablanca" or to Jimmy Stewart in "Vertigo," or to the astronaut of Andrei Tarkovsky's...

One of the best films I have ever seen. Easily one of my absolute favourites and one of the best films of the 21st Century. The thing is, when people ask me if I like this more than In the Mood for Love, I won't be able...
