  The Longest Yard (2005)

"The Longest Yard" is the story of pro quarterback Paul Crewe and former college champion and coach Nate Scarboro, who are doing time in the same prison. The Longest Yard Movie Review by Zara (12/14/2008)

Saw it before I'd watched the original. Saw it before I watched the British version of it, MEAN MACHINE. I prefer this version over Burt Reynolds original because it's fun and occasionally quite funny, all without putting on airs about being the comedy that is meant to impress people. The people behind it all made it for...

The Longest Yard Movie Review by Matthew (5/31/2005)

When I told my mom I was going to go and see “The Longest Yard” she asked me who was in it. I mentioned Adam Sandler and Chris Rock and then mentioned that Burt Reynolds was also in it. Familiar with the 1974 original, she jokingly asked if Reynolds was going to play the ‘Coach’ in the remake. I said I didn’t think so,...

The Longest Yard Movie Review by Corey (5/29/2005)

Adam Sandler has apparently grown up. The goofy good-for-nothing hotel heir and wannabe hockey player of BILLY MADISON and HAPPY GILMORE has matured into the veterinarian of 50 FIRST DATES and, now, an ex-football star in THE LONGEST YARD, both directed by Peter Segal (who made my forever favorite, TOMMY BOY). The former...

The Longest Yard Movie Review by Sicktastic (10/6/2007)

In 1974, a film was released by the same title starring actor Bruce Reynolds. The Longest Yard remake is fun, rough, fast paced and features a great cast and some funny comedy. In this remake, it follows the same plot, even though I have never seen the original, I can get the idea of waht the original was all about.

Adam...

The Longest Yard Movie Review by Ezra (2/13/2007)

Will someone please shoot Adam Sandler and put the moviegoing public out of its misery? I saw this with a friend of mine, and I bet him early on that Rob Schneider would appear in the film, shouting some variation of that terrible "You can do it!" thing. I was both amused and saddened when I won that bet.
