The Amityville Horror 2005

On November 14, 1974, police received a frantic phone call that led them to a grisly crime scene at the Defeo residence in Amityville, Long Island an entire family had been slaughtered in their beds. In the days that followed, Ronald Defeo confessed to methodically shooting his parents and four siblings while they slept. He claimed "voices" in the house drove him to commit the murders. One year later, George and Kathy Lutz and their children moved into the house thinking it would be their dream home. But shortly after settling in, bizarre and unexplainable events began to occur nightmarish visions and haunting voices from an evil presence still lurking within the house. (read more)

The Amityville Horror Movie Review by Zara (7/31/2009)

Be forewarned: I have not watched the original to my recollection. I say that because I am starting to realize that I might have seen certain older movies in the horror genre in passing but didn't sit down to digest them. I do know that the movie claims to be based on a true story. I also don't know how true the true story...

The Amityville Horror Movie Review by Andrea (4/14/2006)

I hadn't seen all of the original going into this movie. I tried it a couple of years ago, but got scared and never finished watching it. I have nothing to compare it to so I probably like it more than some who have seen the original. I had no idea how the story ended, I didn't want to spoil it by reading summaries. :) ...

The Amityville Horror Movie Review by Tony (4/7/2006)

Hollywood's latest obsession with remakes and horror movies leads us to the 2005 version of "The Amityville Horror". This version brings us Ryan Reynolds and anytime I see two Ryan Reynolds movies in a matter of two months, I begin to wonder who I pissed off upstairs to have to endure his "acting". It is based on a true...

The Amityville Horror Movie Review by Lance (6/18/2005)

The remake of "Amityville Horror". Documentary maker Andrew Douglas' first feature film is a keeper. It isn't as scary as the first "Amityville Horror" (which is a classic of the 70's cheese genre) but it is much more shocking. Ryan Reynolds, best known as Van Wilder, is actually turning into a good actor. He not as buff...
