Sideways (2004)
Miles Faymond, a failed writer who teaches junior high school english takes his best friend, former hot actor Jack on a weeklong drive up to 'wine country' in California. There they explore the nature of their failures and question their relationships. Jack, about to get married, has an affair and wonders whether he should call it off. Miles, recently divorced, questions whether or not he made the right choice.

Sideways can be easily considered the best movie of the year. If it wasn't for Million Dollar Baby, this film should have easily grabbed Best Picture. Just like fine wine, Sideways is an acquired taste. After seeing it the first time, I wasn't thrilled with it, but after I saw it the second time, I realized how much of a cinematic masterpiece this movie is, and I understood why it was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

I don't give away stars easily -- this is definately a film to see. It's refreshing to see an original storyline and be introduced to new actors doing an excellent job. It's very funny, and very engaging -- easy to forget the low budget feel. Loved it!
