  The Machinist (2004)

Trevor Reznik, a machinist, has lost the ability to sleep. But this is no ordinary insomnia. Trevor has not slept in a year. Fatigue has led to a shocking deterioration of his physical and mental health. Suspicious of his appearance, Trevor's co-workers first shy away from him, then turn against him after he's involved in a shop accident that costs a man his arm. They blame Trevor for the accident. He has become a liability to himself and others, and now they want him out. Plagued with guilt, Trevor's shame becomes suspicion, then paranoia, when it appears his workmates are conspiring to have him fired –- or worse. (read more)

The Machinist Movie Review by Tim (10/15/2007)

The Machinist Movie Review by Zara (5/27/2007)

Sorry, boys. I'm all for depressing stories, hopeless plot twists and sketchy dealings all around. NORMALLY. But there was something about this movie that rubbed me the wrong way. Boring, slow, ugly, depressing, and just all around one of those flicks that made me feel as if I'd just sacrificed 101 minutes of my life that...

The Machinist Movie Review by Matthew (6/27/2005)

Trevor Reznick (Christian Bale, "Batman Begins") hasn't slept in a year, disrupting his appetite, causing him to lose 70 pounds. He works at a factory, on a machine, making parts for other parts. During the night, he fills his hours with the attentions of Stevie (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a prostitute, and Marie (Aitana...

The Machinist Movie Review by Chris (12/31/2008)

'The Machinist' is one of the strangest movies I have seen in a long time. One will notice though that it follows in the footsteps of films like Memento and Fight Club, in which we have a main character who must solve a mystery of sorts and fight through a strange illness or condition. Director Brad Anderson creates an...

The Machinist Movie Review by Movie Addict (5/21/2007)

Christian Bale (Batman Begins) rocks in the Brad Anderson (Session 9) film about a man (Trevor) who not only hasn't slept in a year, but is losing weight because of it and looks like he has an eating disorder. He could almost joint the cast of thin the way he looks. bale reportedly lost 70 pounds for this film.

I was...
