Collateral 2004

Max (Jamie Foxx) has lived the mundane life of a cab driver for 12 years. The faces have come and gone from his rearview mirror, people and places he's long since forgotten...until tonight. Vincent (Tom Cruise) is a contract killer. Tonight, Vincent arrives in L.A....and five bodies are supposed to fall. Circumstances cause Vincent to hijack Max's taxicab, and Max becomes collateral—an expendable person in the wrong place at the wrong time. Through the night Vincent forces Max to drive him to each assigned destination. And as the LAPD and FBI race to intercept them, Max and Vincent's survival becomes dependent on each other in ways neither would have imagined. (read more)

Collateral Movie Review by Seth (1/25/2005)

Why oh why does Michael Mann do this? He takes a great movie and he quite simply ruins it with an ending. His two exceptions are THE INSIDER, which is a great movie, and ALI, which is crappy from beginning to end. But COLLATERAL, like HEAT, was a movie I enjoyed up until it came time to wrap it up. Instead of...

Collateral Movie Review by James (11/28/2015)

The city of Los Angeles, CA can be considered a wonderful place during the day, with famous landmarks like Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But at night, it can turn into a dark and dangerous place. It is a domicile that contains one of the largest populations in California, and is growing even as...

Collateral Movie Review by SHAYNE (12/17/2006)

This action / drama written by Michael Mann has all the characteristics of a classic in the making. It's got a great cast line up with Tom Cruise (Vincent), Jamie Foxx (Max) and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Tom Cruise plays a cool, relentless, hitman that is just the perfect killing machine. His job is to take out five people in...

Collateral Movie Review by AJ (4/13/2006)

In a year full of stale cookie cutter movies and with few real winners, it was refreshing to see such an exciting and intense thriller that goes down as easy as pie and comes off as cool as ice. Not cold, mind you, but cool, for Michael Mann's Collateral is a very stylish pic, and fairly poignant in moments, too. A real...

Collateral Movie Review by Justin (1/30/2006)

Michael Mann is a hack artist, but there's no denying he's a brilliant stylist. This flick -- his best yet -- is vividly alive from the get go. Tom Cruise is sharp as ever as a contract killer named Vincent who drags unsuspecting cabbie Max (Jamie Foxx) along for an all-night tour of L.A., highlighted by a series of...
