  The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)

The Motorcycle Diaries follows an inspiring journey of self-discovery and traces the youthful origins of a revolutionary heart. The film is adapted from the journals of two real-life young Argentines, Alberto Granado and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna – the latter of whom would become "El Che." Over the course of eight months and 8,000 miles, what starts out as a lark becomes a profound journey of discovery, not only of themselves but of a continent filled with infinite sorrow – and infinite hope. From homeless miners to riverboat prostitutes, from lepers to prosperous gentry, Ernesto and Alberto discover an affinity for humanity within themselves, and a determination to change the world.

The Motorcycle Diaries Movie Review by AJ (4/14/2006)

While The Motorcycle Diaries may sidestep the heavier political issues associated with Che Guevara, I am not qualified enough to really comment on them, so, from my viewpoint, as a film about a personal journey and awakening, it succeeds. Salles really captures the atmosphere of the dirt-poor countries that Guevara and his...

The Motorcycle Diaries Movie Review by Movie Addict (3/12/2007)

I chose to visit a classic from last year, Diarios de motocicleta. It was an absolutely fantastic "buddy film" set amid some awesome scenery. It ran smoothly and never stopped being interesting and, sometimes, funny. It was not preachy, as I expected, but showed the gradual awaking of "Che" Guevera amid the horrors of...

The Motorcycle Diaries Movie Review by Lisa (2/9/2007)

Based on the journals of Ernesto (AKA Che) Guevara this movie beautifully depicts the travels Ernesto and Alberto two young Argentineans as they travel through South America.

I was so looking forward to seeing this film as I have read many books on Guevara's political exploits, and it did not disappoint. The fact that...

The Motorcycle Diaries Movie Review by Shadownlite (4/2/2005)

This film is one I picked up on whim and introduced me to the wonderful Mexican actor, Gael Garcia Bernal.

It is a road trip story which shows how Che Guevara became the revolutionary he went on to become in later life. He and his frined leave on a motorcycle trip with ideas to help out at a leper colony on the Amazon....

The Motorcycle Diaries Movie Review by Salvador (3/4/2005)

An awesome film of epic proportions. This story telling the doctor in training days of Ernesto "Che" Guevara is an emotionally involving and awe-inspiring gift. Gael Garcia Bernal gives one of his greatest performances as the asthmatic main character who along with his friend Alberto, plan to circle south america and work...
