The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
The Motorcycle Diaries follows an inspiring journey of self-discovery and traces the youthful origins of a revolutionary heart. The film is adapted from the journals of two real-life young Argentines, Alberto Granado and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna – the latter of whom would become "El Che." Over the course of eight months and 8,000 miles, what starts out as a lark becomes a profound journey of discovery, not only of themselves but of a continent filled with infinite sorrow – and infinite hope. From homeless miners to riverboat prostitutes, from lepers to prosperous gentry, Ernesto and Alberto discover an affinity for humanity within themselves, and a determination to change the world.

While The Motorcycle Diaries may sidestep the heavier political issues associated with Che Guevara, I am not qualified enough to really comment on them, so, from my viewpoint, as a film about a personal journey and awakening, it succeeds. I was so looking forward to seeing this film as I have read many books on Guevara's political exploits, and it did not disappoint. The fact that...

This film is one I picked up on whim and introduced me to the wonderful Mexican actor, Gael Garcia Bernal.
It is a road trip story which shows how Che Guevara became the revolutionary he went on to become in later life. He and his frined leave on a motorcycle trip with ideas to help out at a leper colony on the Amazon....

An awesome film of epic proportions. This story telling the doctor in training days of Ernesto "Che" Guevara is an emotionally involving and awe-inspiring gift. Gael Garcia Bernal gives one of his greatest performances as the asthmatic main character who along with his friend Alberto, plan to circle south america and work...
