I Heart Huckabees (2004)
Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman), head of the Open Spaces Coalition, has been experiencing an alarming series of coincidences the meaning of which escapes him. With the help of two Existential Detectives, Bernard and Vivian Jaffe (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin), Albert examines his life, his relationships, and his conflict with Brad Stand (Jude Law), an executive climbing the corporate ladder at Huckabees, a popular chain of retail superstores. When Brad also hires the detectives, they dig deep into his seemingly perfect life and his relationship with his spokesmodel girlfriend, the voice of Huckabees, Dawn Campbell (Naomi Watts). Albert pairs up with rebel firefighter Tommy Corn (Mark Wahlberg) to take matters into their own hands under the guidance of the Jaffes' nemesis, the French radical Caterine Vauban (Isabelle Huppert). This existential comedy is directed by David O. Russell, director of 'Three Kings', 'Flirting With Disaster' and 'Spanking The Monkey'.

Frankly all the things the characters were blurting out in the film did not make sense to me. But yet, I remember coming out of the cinema with a warm fuzzy feeling and laughing a lot while watching it...
Maybe because...
*Maybe because the actors were cool enough to not care about making fools of themselves.
*Maybe...

The movie was really, really good. It was a brain-breaking tesseract of events that somehow all tied in to one another and produced a story full of surprising depth.
The only thing I hated about the movie was Jude Law's horrific attempt at an American accent. What, he couldn't be a Brit in the movie? Come on!
It was an...

With a juggernaut cast (Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Mark Wahlberg and Naomi Watts) this would be seem to scream mainstream hit, yet instead co-writer/ director David O. Russell ('Three Kings') explores the world of the existential. Schwartman's Albert visits the existential detectives to...

like Dogville and many of my other favorite films (see Irreversible and The Addiction), this is one that people tend to either love or hate. Anyone in the middle probably just doesn't get it. I think this is one of the funniest films of the year, but also one of the most insightful and visually unique. It will give you a...

While it seemed to get off to a very deep and interesting start, it didn't ultimately go anywhere -- I just hoped for more after all the hype. There were some great moments in the film, but by the time the credits rolled, I felt like the whole thing would have been more meaningful after a few drinks.
