Under the watchful eye of his mentor Captain Mike Kennedy (Travolta), probationary firefighter Jack Morrison (Phoenix) matures into a seasoned veteran at a Baltimore fire station. Jack has reached a crossroads, however, as the sacrifices he's made have put him in harm's way innumerable times and significantly impacted his relationship with his wife and kids. Ladder 49 Movie Review by Zara (4/10/2010)

What a sappy movie meant for the male gender to watch without having to feel guilty that they're really watching a chick flick. I suppose war films are the other genre, but...

Under the watchful eye of his mentor Captain Mike Kennedy (Travolta), probationary...

I liked this movie better the first time I saw it, when it was called Backdraft. Yes, that joke was obvious, but not as obvious as every so-called plot development in this lame potboiler. The film alternates between bad comedy and bad drama; maybe if it had picked one or the other, it would have fared better.

Ever see a movie that you had a predetermined thought about and you were proved wrong? That was the case with me and Ladder 49. I walked in thinking you would see a lot of fire scenes, high chase pursuits in an attempt to save people, lots of fire, and hero like scenes, and a lot of noise on the screen. You see that in...

Hey there everybody, how are ya'all?

Ok, now here is another fireman movie, and although the trailers didn't really make me want to see it, when it came out on DVD I said, what the heck and rented it!

I am glad I did. The movie is a really good film, with some strong acting by a great group of actors, along with some...
