Released in 1945 - This "rags-to-riches" Joan Crawford vehicle is a classy Chick Flick. It certainly packs a considerable-sized bite when it comes to its dramatic story-telling.

Everytime I began to hate this film it swiftly redeemed itself. It is at once a murder mystery, love story and an analysis of the relationship between mothers and daughters.
