  X2: X-men United (2003)

description written by member AJ:

In this sequel to 2000's hit comic book extravaganza X-Men, X2 finds the mutants under attack from the government. As Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) searches for clues about his forgotten past, the villainous General Stryker (Brian Cox)--who himself knows quite a bit of Wolverine's past--launches an all-out war against the mutants at Professor Xavier's (Patrick Stewart) school. Now it's up to the whole team, including Cyclops (James Marsden), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Storm (Halle Berry), Rogue (Anna Paquin), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), and newcomer Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming) to save the day...as well as to form an uneasy alliance with evil mutants Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn).

X2: X-men United Movie Review by AJ (6/5/2006)

As great as the first X-Men is, it's basically just a brilliant warm-up for X2. More than almost any other Hollywood spectacle I've seen, X2 can be uniquely labeled as "big-budget art." It's a big epic with a very large and varied cast of characters, plus with about a bajillion action sequences, but as always, there is...

X2: X-men United Movie Review by Thom (5/21/2008)

Whenever I think about sequels - especially the pun-rich number two - there are two sophomore efforts that stand out as positive experiences in my mind. One is The Empire Strikes Back, the other Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. There are also those that stand out as film felonies - obvious attempts to cash in on a property...

X2: X-men United Movie Review by Ash (10/25/2006)

I was a bit disappointed with the weak plot and horrible treatment of the characters in the first X-Men movie. As such, I was expecting X-2 to be equally disappointing, if not more so. Boy, am I glad to be wrong!

X-2 is what the first movie should have been like (ie closer to the comic). We are forever stuck with the...
