Just enough of Michael Crichton's novel survives in Timeline to make it a passable popcorn thriller. While you are enjoying Gerard Butler in 300, you could go back in time to this film and see his earlier work. You could, but you really wouldn't want to.
The Michael Crichton's novel ''Timeline'' was not well served by this screenplay that tells of scientists that travel back to 1357.
