House of Sand and Fog 2003

description written by member Zara:

When her husband dumps her, an alcoholic woman, Kathy Nicolo (Jennifer Connelly), finds her house in the California hills seized in foreclosure and put up for public auction by local sheriff deputies (including Ron Eldard). An exiled Iranian air force colonel (Ben Kingsley) sees Nicolo's house as his family's dream home and quickly snaps it up. Trouble is, Nicolo is obsessed with getting the house back -- and will let nothing stand in her way.

The acting on all levels is fantastic and parallels and complements each other, from the agonizing portrayal of a down on her luck woman who mistakenly doesn't fill out all the right forms...

House of Sand and Fog Movie Review by Ezra (2/16/2007)

I consider myself as jaded as the next film buff, but the emotional power of this film shocked even me at times. Ben Kingsley crafts a wonderfully complex character, and the screenplay and direction, as well as the rest of the cast, are all up to par with him.

House of Sand and Fog Movie Review by carrie (2/11/2007)

this was a brilliant drama about human nature . unfortunately, it was soo depressing that i wanted to shoot myself or the characters . the story unwinds after awhile (which seems like a long time ) and you are left with this totally disturbing feeling, that makes you say ,"why did i want to see that ?"
