The film that introduced Humphrey Bogart to his future wife, Lauren Bacall.
She was 19, he was 45, but somehow it works and is believable.
Bacall owns the screen, from the moment she first enters the room, like a whisper of smoke. No one had the saunter, the presence of this immediate star.
