It's based on a comic book and revels in that history. It has more grotesque scenes than in all of George Romero's zombie classics combined, which is why it is a hit with horror fans. One of the redeeming factors is it's fight scenes. Don't take my word for it. The fight scenes in this movie are better than Green Goblin...
