If you've ever doubted how much a star can carry a movie, look no further than Legally Blonde, Robert Luketic's pop fluff about a sorority girl who becomes the reigning brain at Harvard Law School. The film tries way too hard to be pop fluff, but thankfully it also understands the comic glories of Reese Witherspoon. As Elle Woods, the supposedly dimwitted heroine, Witherspoon gives a high-wattage performance that somehow comes across as both lusciously cartoonish and warmly human. It's a radiant comic turn worthy of Marilyn Monroe, and Luketic throws the whole movie at her, even though its intentional kitsch and sledgehammer...

This is a damn cute movie. And it manages to make a hero out of a blonde bimbo.
I hate when people wonder why Paris Hilton is so popular and then admit that they like this movie. People both love and despise blondes at the same time, causing a strange existence in this world. It seems that everyone is ok with a blonde...

Oh, no! Not another 'Dumb Blonde' Flick!
Even before I sat down to watch LEGALLY BLONDE I had solemnly sworn to myself that I was going to hate this flick as far as the law would allow. Yeah. I was gonna put this piece of dumb-ass trash straight through the movie...

A charming and sweet move that can be grating in parts but is mostly sweet.
Reese Witherspoon is by far the best part of this film. Her performance makes you feel bad for the prom queen and head cheerleader and social chair, because she has feelings too.
Luke Wilson is a lame duck in an underwritten and underperformed...
