Frequency (2000)

Frequency is really two different--though inextricably linked--movies. First, the emotional drama of a father and son reunited after 30 years of separation. Then there's a science fiction thriller, in which a couple of chance solar storms, occurring exactly 30 years apart, can provide the agency through which the father and son can communicate using the very same ham radio in parallel time frames of 1969 and 1999. So the plot is implausible. It's still a rather interesting film if you can not delve too deeply into it. The easiest way to do that is go to Laughlin and get completely smashed on free drinks in the casino and then stumble back to your room and order it on the movie channel. If you like sci-fi mystery thrillers, this is the film for you. Frequency stars James Caviezel as a New York City cop who for the last 30 years has been haunted by the death of his father, but when an ham radio shows up in his house, things suddenly turn when he is able to speak to his late father, played by Dennis Quaid....
