Ten Things I Hate About You (1999)

Meet the Stratford sisters: pretty and popular Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), who has never had a date; and Kat (Julia Stiles), her older sibling, an ill-tempered harridan whose acerbic wit is matched only by her steadfast determination to alienate any guy who might be remotely interested in her. Unfortunately, strict rules in the Stratford household forbid Bianca from having a boyfriend until her odious sister has one of her own-a situation that seems highly improbable considering Kat is a social disaster. Bianca's desperation for romance turns into a convoluted scheme to match Kat with her male equivalent--a guy whose reputation is so infamous, Kat might rise to the challenge and find him worthy of her concealed charms. Mating mayhem ensues when Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger)--a sullen young man with a mysterious past--is bribed by Bianca's wannabe boyfriend (Andrew Keegan) to woo and win Kat, in order to clear the way for Bianca to begin dating. This is supposedly based upon some play by Shakespeare. Who cares? he is so last millennium. This is a fantastic and funny movie that was brilliantly written by Karen McCullah Lutz & Kirsten Smith. You can be sure that I will look for more of their work.
I never came across Julia Stiles until the Bourne trilogy, and then...

This movie came out in 1999 when I was in the middle of high school. Could there be any better flick for a teenager? I don't think so. This movie rocked my world. I think it was the poem that Kat reads in class that got me. I was always writing poems at that time in my life...weren't we all? *sigh*

No one really knew who the stars of this movie were when the film was first released. One of the first things that people saw Ledger in (and not as the more identifiable blonde but as a brooding brunette) and the film which Julia Stiles really took the reins and ran with, I rather enjoy this movie.

I can't remember how I ended up watching this movie the first time; I'm pretty sure it started with hearing my sister-in-law listening to the soundtrack and asking her what it was. I wasn't that interested in watching it, teen movies being really hot and cold. You never really know what you're going to get.

I love this movie! It was my FAVORITE when i was little, i rented it 932429384902384 times! I became a huge julia Stiles & Heath Ledger fan because of this movie! I love the whole concept of this movie and i find it very funny. I can't say that i have a favorite part because of my love for the whole movie!!
