Aesthetically, The English Patient is beautiful. Anthony Minghella knows how to lavishly direct an epic like this, and the cinematography by John Seale is absolutely gorgeous. A long, boring book translated in a long, boring movie. What a shock that it is dull.
I am amazed that this film took home so many awards. It stuns me. Dull, dull, dull and not romantic at all.
Minghella, I expect more from you.

This movie is one that still makes my heart all a flutter when I think about it. It is a visual wet dream for anybody who can enjoy a movie just for the way that a film can be shot.
Though loosely based around a factual character and events...(I say loosely because in real life the key character was gay and was working...
