Buck Henry is a great screenwriter. He was nominated for an Academy Award for The Graduate, and he wrote one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, The Owl and the pu**ycat. He can add this film to the list of great adaptations (Joyce Maynard's book).
Oscar-nominated director Gus Van Sant does some great films like...

The one and only time that I have enjoyed Nicole Kidman was in this twisted black comedy about a woman willing to do anything to become famous. Including having sex with a teenage boy in hopes of convincing him to kill her husband.
Kidman shows what I believe are her true colors in this, playing a conniving, vapid mess...
