Writer-director Nora Ephron hit a low point with this disappointingly dreary comedy set in a suicide clinic on Christmas Eve. The joke is supposed to be that all of the crisis counselors are themselves a pack of lovable losers, led by a badly toupeed Steve Martin. The characters are unlikeable, the plot is thin as it follows a group of pathetic counselors.
The whole film feels like a sprint that no one trained for.
It is especially disappointing as it was directed by Nora Ephron who is usually more reliable than this. ...
