This is the movie that Leonardo DiCaprio received an Oscar nomination for, five years before Titanic. And, in fact, this is the movie that should have made him a star, he's so good in it. This movie got most of its attention based on the long dyed red hair of Johnny Depp and the brilliant acting turn by DiCaprio. If it hadn't gotten that, I'm afraid it might have been lost in the shuffle and everyone would have missed a really sweet and tender movie.
It might seem odd to people. This was released before...

This movie is simple amazing.
A moving tale about a small town family with a morbidly obese mother and mentally challenged son with his siblings going through the trials and tribulations of growing up in a truly unique situation.
