When Pearl Berman (Shirley MacLaine) loses her husband after 37 years of marriage, the last thing she's looking for is new love, but that's what she finds when charming Joe Meledandri (Marcello Mastroianni) shows up at the funeral. As it turns out, the dapper Italian has loved Pearl secretly for years -- 23, in fact, dating back to the night he met her spouse in a bar and persuaded him not to leave her. Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy also star.
