Far and Away (1992)

Joseph Donnelly a young Irishman (Cruise) gets evicted from his property after his father passes away. He tries to kill his landlord Daniel Christie and fails. Meanwhile Shannon (Kidman) the daughter of Daniel is having trouble at home and decides to run away to America and try to claim some of the free Oklahoma land that she has heard they are giving away. She takes Joseph with her and when they arrive they are robbed and must find work. Joseph quickly finds work as a boxer while Shannon struggles as a common worker when she is use to living the rich lifestyle.

I really did love this ridiculous love story back in the day. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, real-life spouses at the time, star as star-crossed lovers trying to find their way to the new America.
This film is melodramatic and entirely self-serious, but you can see a certain sparkle in Kidman that will later turn her into...
