L.A. Story (1991)

Steve Martin wrote this film as a meditation on both love and Los Angeles (and then-wife Victoria Tennant). He plays a L.A. TV weatherman who finds himself conflicted about what to do with his life, both professionally and personally. As he works his way through a couple of relationships (including a very funny one with a frisky Sarah Jessica Parker, who talks him into colonic therapy), he discovers a L.A. freeway sign that gives him romantic advice. I love when Steve Martin decides to write a movie. A well read man, he likes to throw in references that most people don't pick up on unless they're also well-read. Oddly enough, this movie was released not long after Mel Gibson's version of HAMLET came out, so there were people who were able to pick up on the references...

Is love something that you search for or does love find you? Is it destiny or opportunity that brings people together?
Steve Martin without a doubt plays his best film role as a wacky L.A. weather man Harris Telemacher who falls for a girl named Sara McDowel played by Victoria Tennant who he can't seem to have.
