Gladiator (1991)
description written by member Thom:
Before Russell Crowe toppled the Empire of Rome, James Marshall (A Few
Good Men) toppled the boxing empire of crooked promoter Jimmy Horn
(Brian Dennehy).
Gladiator features fish-out-of-water white boy Ghost (Marshall) and
hometown hero Lincoln (Academy Award Winner Cuba Gooding Jr.) as a pair
of boxers trying to fight their way off the streets of Chicago. The only
game in town is former boxer turned promoting kingpin Horn (Dennehy) who
is promising to take Lincoln pro until he meets Ghost, the great white
hope. Both Ghost and Lincoln want their shot, but are they willing to
kill each other to get it?
