Political heavyweights decide that Jefferson Smith (James Stewart), an obscure scoutmaster in a small town, would be the perfect dupe to fill a vacant U.S. Senate chair. Surely this naive bumpkin can be easily controlled by the senior senator (Claude Rains) from his state, a respectable and corrupted career politician. in yet another election year of mud slinging,and dirty campain ads, i once again brake out my lod time favorite movie ever, mr. smith takes me to a place where truth and doing the right thing was the way elections should be runed, after seeing my umpteenth dirty campain ad i have to lose my self in some good old fashion...

Frank Capra made some great films in his career (You Can't Take It With You, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, It Happened One Night), and he made some near-great films (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, It's a Wonderful Life, Lost Horizon, Lady For a Day). Frank Capra's film about having faith in the political system is one of my favorite of his Americana-heavy redemption films. James Stewart plays the politician who is sullied by the system, but finds it within himself to stand up for what he believes is right.
In these times of political crisis, a film like this gives us...
