A whole new meaning has been brought to the phrase, "Game Night." For many years, game night has simply meant just that, a night of games. Weather board or video games, "game night" was some type of event where you were required to actually use your mind and think, bring your favorite game, and enjoy the evening of half witted solitude surrounded by those friends you chose only to stomach during large gatherings.
However, with the release of BATTLESHIP, "Game Night" is now so much more than a painful evening of suffering and thinking. Game night is now becoming one of the most anticipated

Instead of games, how about your favorite movie, based on a game for your game night?
BATTLESHIP is certainly my new favorite, but there is a list of other movies based on games, either bored or video.
Here are some of them.
- HITMAN (based on the game Hitman)
- RESIDENT EVIL (based on the Resident Evil video game series)
- CLUE - (based on the Clue board game)
- JUMANJI (based on a book about the board game)
- FINAL FANTASY (based on the video game series)
- GET A CLUE (based on the board game Clue)
- BATTLESHIP (based on the board game Battleship)
Of course the list continues, but; on the other hand, there is also a definitive list of movies that are based on a game like setting. These include:
-TRON
-TRON: LEGACY;
-GAMER;
-SPY KIDS 3D GAME OVER,
-GRANDMA'S BOY
-THE LAST STREET FIGHTER
And this list includes many others.
BATTLESHIP, of course, has become my favorite movie. It pulled enough of the concept of the board game to show it's homage to the game and still break apart and hold true to its own concept of "battleship."
The cast was outstanding, including Rihanna. She made a great debut

| and truly brought a side to her tough character I believe only Rhianna could bring. The cast, including Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, and Alexander Skarsgard truly hit a home run. The cast broke hearts, lifted spirits, and proved to be perfectly suited for the birth of BATTLESHIP.
BATTLESHIP gained five stars in my book and is certainly worth watching, regardless of the reviews it received. However, I am reluctant to say a movie with a similar concept will gain popularity. Although, Universal has already put QUIJA, RISK, and CANDY LAND in production for movies to release in late 2013.

There's more:
There's talk of a CLUE reboot, a CHUTES and LADDERS movie, and (get this) CANDYLAND.
I'm shuddering to think of the possibility of ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS - the MOVIE.

Movie's based on games usually fall flat in my eyes, but I was thorughly impressed with BATTLESHIP.
I had heard about CANDYLAND, but I can't imagine it getting the hype and draw like BATTLESHIP. However, if Adam Sandler does star in it, it may work out.
But CHUTES and LADDERS? That sounds outrageous to me. I am not sure board game movies will survive. Hollywood has a tendancy to blow one good movie out of proportion and destroy movie ideas altogether.
ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS scares me a bit too. But, America would probably love it!
