From Master of the Unvierse to master of vengence.

From Master of the Unvierse to master of vengence.
Greetings superheroes, for this column I am going to break tradition. Instead of doing my typical column/editorial, I am going to present a new feature. This was inspired by the Awesome one from days long ago. I was thinking about how unusual it is that Chris Evans is playing a person with telekinetic powers in PUSH and Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four film franchise and it got me wondering, "How many comic book characters can one actor/actress play before he/she loses all credibility?" Well, without further ado, I give you my list of ten people who have pulled off multiple comic character roles.

10. Dolph Lundgren
Yes he counts, barely, because he playedFrank Castle/The Punisher in the 1989 release PUNISHER and played Prince Adam/He-Man in the 1987 release of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (DC had him going toe to toe with Superman and holding his ground - Corrective Craig.) Of course even the most casual fan knows that Punisher is one of the greatest comic vigilantes this side of Batman.

9. Dania Ramirez
This is a little "iffy" to me because I consider both parts she played to be written poorly. She played Callisto in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and Maya Herrera in the TV series HEROES
All of that and Snakes On A Plane.

(which was adapted into comic book format - Adhering-to-the-rules Alpha.) Her powers were to make everyone sick in HEROES and her character made everyone sick the X-Men comic book series.

8. Jon Favreau
He had a much understated role as Tony Stark's body guard, Happy Hogan in last year's IRON MAN and stole the show (in my not-so humble opinion - Column-writing Craig) in the role of Foggy Nelson in 2003's release of DAREDEVIL.

7. Samuel L Jackson
I know most of you might think that he should be number one based on the fact that he has been in so many movies but I limit him to three actual comic book roles (I don't count Lucius Best/Frozone in THE INCREDIBLES or Elijah Price from UNBREAKABLE because that aren't true comic book characters - Academic Alpha.) What gets him on this list is his cameo as Nick Fury in 2008's IRON MAN and his role as the Octopus in 2008's THE SPIRIT as well as Mace Windu in the regrettable STAR WARS prequel trilogy.

6. Kevin Smith
I know I am grasping at straws a bit, but hear me out. He played Silent Bob/Bluntman in many of his own movies, Forensic Assistant Jack Kirby in 2003's DAREDEVIL and

voiced the Diner Cook in 2007's TMNT and the "Grumpy Man" in 2007's SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY .

5. James Marsters
He is mainly in TV adaptations of comic books, but he has done enough to make the list. It goes from Spike in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as TV series Angel, Prof. Milton Fine/Brainiac in the TV series Smallville based on Superman's origins and the voice of Lex Luthor in the animated 2007 release SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY.

4. Terrance Stamp
"Kneel Before Zod! " Must I say more? As well as excellently portraying General Zod in both SUPERMAN 1 & 2, he also played Elektra's teacher The Stick in 2005's ELEKTRA and Pekwarsky in 2008's disappointing WANTED (and let's not forget doing the voice of Jor El in the TV series SMALLVILLE - Commemorative Craig.)

3. Bruce Campbell
Yes this is cheating but I don't care, it's my list. He has been in all 3 SPIDERMAN movies. He was the wrestling announcer in the first, a snooty usher named Dylan Reid in the second and a French maitre d' at the restaurant that Peter Parker was planning on proposing to Mary Jane.

2. Erick Avari'
We have seen this guy in almost

as many movies as Samuel L Jackson so it is no surprise to see him here so high on the list. His credits include Mr. Muunour in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Nikolas Natchios in 2003's DAREDEVIL, Dr. Vasson in the TV series Aliasand Chandra Suresh in the TV series Heroes.

1. Stan Lee
This one should have been a given even though he isn't an actor by any stretch. He had cameos in TV-movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, Fox Broadcasting Company telefilms Generation X (1996) and Nick Fury: Agent of Shield (1998), X-MEN (2000), SPIDERMAN (2002), DAREDVIL (2003), HULK (2003), SPIDERMAN 2 (2004), FANTASTIC FOUR (2005), X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (2006), SPIDERMAN 3 (2007), FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER (2007), IRON MAN (2008) and THE INCREDIBLE HULK (2008). He is a different character extra in each appearance with the exception of portraying himself at the wedding of Reed Richards and Susan Storm FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER.

I hope you have enjoyed this new feature and I will try to throw a different list out every so often. Thanks for reading true believers, EXCELSIOR!

I am the first and the last, maybe not. I'm 31 years old and still spend my disposable income on comic books. Might as well put it to good use.
