Ultimate X-Men, eat your hearts and costumes out.

Ultimate X-Men, eat your hearts and costumes out.
Now for those of you beyond the five that might have caught that GHOSTBUSTERS reference, it means I am going to cross the streams and flip the scripts. The idea is simple "Movies that should be made into comic book series and why." It has been a trend of Holly-weird to adapt more things to the motion pictures than to actually come up with original ideas. In the past it was a vast array of different mediums for creative plagiarisms: novels, poems, historical events, Japanese/Korean horror movies and now comic books have been the target of this trend more so recently. I say it is time that the comic book writers get even (and that doesn't mean by killing off your best characters before they can be cinematically butchered, thank you very much Ed Bruebaker - Captain Craig-ica.) What I am saying is to take characters from the big screen and covert them to comic book stars the way Joss Whedon did with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and

yes I realized Buffy was his creation
- Avoiding-the-obvious Alpha.) So without further Andru (he has been zinged and loves it - Penalty-calling Craig) and in no particular order, I give a few of my picks.

HANCOCK
I know I am going with something safe and easy. The very concept of the movie is almost a parody of our favorite "big guy in blue and red", but it goes deeper than that. I won't spoil the movie for you (even though, if you are reading my column, you should have seen it by now - Accusatory Alpha), but the story follows closer to the comic book series The Eternals. There is a whole history of Hancock and his origins that could easily be told in the comic book form. In the movie, he can't remember his past (which doesn't at all sound like a Canadian hero that has retractable claws, seriously big sideburns, a funky hairdo and a bad attitude - Cannuckleheaded Craig.) The point is that it could

all be explained, and more, in a prequel series.

THE MUMMY
This was another "no-brainer" to me. I know the latest installment of The Mummy series Rick O'Connell/Brendan Frasier claims have "tangled with more Mummies than you in my day" and ,even though he goes on to say "yeah ..... the same Mummy, twice, they could easily say that he fought other types of villains and hunted for treasure in the periods of time between the first and second movies and the second and third movies (and maybe even explain why his son last his accent between the second and third movies - Astute Alpha.) Why limit his supernatural foes to just Mummies? Why not have him and his pack fight Werewolves, Vampires, Goblins oh my! As cheesy as the movies were, the same could be said about an aforementioned vampire hunter's first movie.

UNBREAKABLE
Three seems to be the magic number so this is my last pick for this column and it is yet

another obvious choice. M. Night Shyamalan has said, recently, that he is considering making a sequel. I am not sure how he would go about doing this, but this is so much that could be done with David Dunn /Bruce Willis and Elijah Price /Samuel L. Jackson. Not to mention the fact that there must be a villain with similar powers as Dunn or even greater powers. They could be doing in that comic book series what the first and half of the second seasons of Heroes tried to do, create realistic superheroes/villains (Marvel's "New Universe" tried that too, but we won't get into that - Car Crash Craig.)

There are so many possibilities and I think it is about time that the writers for the comic book industry start taking films "writers" ideas and run with, firmly putting the shoe on the other foot so-to-speak. Thanks for reading true believers, EXCELSIOR!

The Alpha Craig
I am the first and the last, maybe not. I'm 31 years old and still spend my disposable income on comic books. Might as well put it to good use.
