Well, I really didn't get the response I was hoping for with my last column, so I have decided to scrap The Turkey Awards.
As far as the business at hand, this will be my final column on Matchflick.com. It's a sad day, to say the least. I've been on Matchflick.com for almost two years, and I've seen the site go through a number of bosses and a number of changes. It's been a great learning experience for me, and I've met a lot of great people through this website. I've been able to write about movies every other Tuesday with a lot of freedom, which has been greatly appreciated. As writers, that's all we can ask for. We just want an avenue to share our thoughts without censorship. When you have that, it allows you to grow as a writer and as a person.
First and foremost, I want to thank Seth Leonard for giving a young kid with no previous experience a shot. I can't thank him enough. When he hired me in April of 2006, it was a rough time in my life. I was still recovering from my mom's death, and I was in a pretty bad place. He offered me a chance to write about movies and that kept me busy and active. Without that, I would have been thinking about my mom a lot and it would have been hard to recover from everything. I'm not sure where Seth is these days, but I want to thank him for allowing me to write on Matchflick.com. He really took a chance on me, and I hope I made him proud.
I'd also like to thank Tim and everyone else on Matchflick.com. I think everyone has done a wonderful job with the website. I love all the new writers and all the new features. I think the site is going to really take off in the next couple of months. Everyone on the site works really hard to keep it fresh and interesting. I think everyone on the site brings something unique and something different to the table. I'd also like to thank everyone who has either read my column or sent me a message or email about my column. Even if you sent me a nasty email, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
As far as why I'm leaving the site, things have become pretty hectic in my life, and I need to cut down on my columns. I hope that 2008 will be a great year for yours truly, and I hope to reach a new level in my career. That being said, I'll still be online doing interviews and reviews, and I hope everyone will keep in touch with me through email. My email is tonyf169@yahoo.com. I just need more balance in my life, and I need to work on some other responsibilities. I hope everyone understands. Thanks so much for everything!
For the final time ...
