If you could buy some of someone's personality, and put it in a bottle to sell, I've got the girl for you to make a fortune on. Let me introduce you to Mandi Nixx. This model has the right attitude, personality, intelligence, and passion that will just make you melt. Mandi is a true professional, who loves what she does as well as loves giving back to others, whether it be someone she knows, or a complete stranger. Here's the conversation that we had, ENJOY!
1. Tell me some stats about yourself.
I'm 5'9 and a half. I usually have bleach blonde hair but right now I have dark brown :) I needed the change! I have green eyes. I'm from Troy, Michigan, a suburb 30 mins north of Detroit. I went to college at the University of Evansville (Indiana) and I'm now getting my masters degree from Indiana University via online. I began modeling when I was 16 years old, taking modeling and acting classes at John Robert Powers. When I was 17 I signed with Ford Models (Chicago) and then later with LA Models in Los Angeles. I lived on and off in LA while attending college in Indiana. I now live in Memphis, Tn and make trips to NYC and LA to do jobs and shoots frequently!
2. What current projects are you working on?
I'm always doing photoshoots to update my portfolio and to work with as many amazingly talented photographers as possible! Right now I'm just laying pretty low.. I just got a new marketing job being an Events Coordinator here in Memphis! I get to plan parties and get paid for it!! I have a shoot in 2 weeks.. so i'm working out, trying to get the body super hot by then :)
3. Tell me about your career, and where you want it to go.
I want to keep modeling.. I'd love to do that as my full time job! Not living in LA makes that a little hard though. I'd also love to work in marketing. I dont think I'll ever be cut out to do the 9-5 deal, but I love being creative!
4. What is your best attribute?
I'm very hard working. I'm a bit of a perfectionist..which can be good and bad! I love to have fun, and I love making people smile!! I love surprising my friends with precious lil cards and some random gifts when they are having rough days.
5. Who are your favorite people to work with?
My favorite photographers that I have worked with thus far are Karl Larsen (Tommy Lee, Evanescense, Velvet Revolver and many more), Gene Kirkland (Megadeth, GNR) and Gregory Nixon. I have been so lucky to work with some of the most talented photographers in the industry!
6. Favorite movie, actor/actress & why?
My favorite movie streams back to when I was young. "Wild Hearts Cant Be Broken" and "Princess Bride", they both make me go back to my childhood everytime I watch them =) My favorite actress is Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock. My favorite actor is Colin Ferrel, and Will Ferrell. I love how talented they all are, and Will just cracks me up non stop for hours!
7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
I would love to grace the pages of Stuff and Maxim magazine again! I was in Stuff back in 05 and Maxim in the Feb issue in 06. I'd love to get a cover!! I want to get as much exposure and make as many great connections as I can. I love meeting and working with new people! ..I REALLY want a cover!!
8. What turns you on?
A guy with confidence, a great smile, a honest set of eyes and someone that is creative! I need to always be kept on my toes or I get BORED!
9. What turns you off?
Liars, people who name drop, people who know NOTHING about music, and people who think they are above others. I HATE that!
10. Controversy sells. What is controversial about you?
Hmmm well I tend to keep myself mysterious! I dont let a lot of people into my world. I have a small group of amazing friends and I have a real hard time letting new people into that circle. So I guess I'm controversial cause most don't really know what I'm about... :) I like it that way..
11. Funniest thing that has happened to you.
Oh lord.. hahaha My life is full of hilarious people so there have been soo many hilarious moments!! The funniest thing that happend today though was something my bulldog puppy did. Get an english bulldog! There personalities kick soo much ass!!
12. Any bad experiences in your career?
Yah. I've met a lot of people that promise soo much and in the end bring nothing to the table. This industry is tough. When I was younger, I use to get really crushed by people that promised me shoots, jobs and or potential contracts and then would bail out or end up to be complete liars. Now I have learned that its just part of the business! Especially out in LA. True people are hard to find and are endangered spieces in Hollywood!
13. If you could work with anyone, who would it be and why?
DAVID CHAPELLE!! He is soo incredibly talented!!!!! I also think that Tyler Shields is amazing as well!! He is a new up and coming talent around Hollywood!
14. Any charity work or giving back to the community?
YES! My parents raised me that giving back is a huge part of life. My dad is a doctor and my mom is a stockbroker.. so I haven't exactly grown up in a bad situation! Each year we participate in Angel Tree, usually adopting several families.. making sure they are well taken care of. During Halloween, my mom and I take part in a Haunted House in downtown Detroit that raises money for the battered womens and childrens houses in Detroit. One of the best experiances for me was last year, during the Superbowl in Detroit I took part in participating at the Cass Community to open up the Arts High School, building new homeless shelters, the Scott center, the womens center and also the day center for the mentally handicaped. We had the help from the President of the NFL and the entire Tagleabeu family! It was an un-real experience! And.. that night Tommy Lee threw a party..It was a great weekend! I also enjoy helping out the Habitat for Humanity!
