The Best Way To Make A Part 4.......w/ Arnie! |
| Well Terminator 4 is going to happen regardless of how bad you do not want it to. It is in the works and has a 2008 release date set. Jonathan Mostow which directed Terminator 3 Rise of the machines has signed on to do another and John Brancato from T3 is writing the screenplay for part 4 as well. Here is the interesting question though........Who will be cast in it??
Arnold Schwarzenegger has clearly stated that as long as he is the governator that he will not return to acting. Just a few months ago when asked about Terminator 4 he said it would be possible for him to make a cameo in the film as long as they shot it in California. So to me he does not sound too enthused about the whole idea of it. What scares me is what ideas the current casting directors in Hollywood have running through their brains.
The Terminator casting to me is simple. In 1984 when The Terminator part one came out there was a lot bigger stars then Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not only were they bigger but better actors. Jack Nicholson, Kurt Russell, Donald Sutherland, Clint Eastwood, etc.....Just to name a few. I really do not see Jack Torrance, Jack Burton, or Blondie aka: The man with no name running around with machine guns saying "I'll be back." This was when casting directors actually used common sense and thought hmm a Terminator would be a man with a

| large physique and probably would talk like a robot. The perfect choice would be non-other then Conan himself... Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In present time casting directors seem to amaze me all the time. I am an 80's movie fan. I liked the actors better in the 80's and definitely liked the movies better in the 80's. These days I really think that grade school kids could figure out who should play a certain part better then Hollywood. Do you remember when George Lucas was going to let N' Sync get cameos in Star Wars episode II....Yes that really happened you were not dreaming that. Even top directors that have changed film history make stupid decisions. You really cannot rely on anyone these days.
I have heard of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson picking up the role and I think that's a great idea being thrown around by fans. No I don't think its Arnold great but I think its better then Mr. Bean running around as the Terminator slipping on banana peels as he tries to kill John Conner. The best idea I have heard from ordinary fans is to bring Robert Patrick back as the T-1000 and have him be reprogrammed as the good Terminator this time.
Nick Stahl is rumored to be coming back.......Why did they pick him in the first place I'm sure Edward Furlong was not too busy to pick up the role. Yea Eddie isn't the best but he worked for

| part 2 and should have reprised his role. Nick Stahl is a bigger Puss then Furlong right above Macaulay Culkin and Michael Jackson. Yeah there is an idea for T4. Michael Jackson as the Terminator where his sparkly glove changes into an ion cannon and Macaulay Culkin playing John Conner where every time he sees the Terminator chasing him he throws on aftershave and screams at himself "No fate but what we make for ourselves." Gilbert Godfrey can play Kyle Reese and Sarah Michelle Gellar can play the ghost of Sarah Conner.
As funny as you can go with the casting really its not that funny. Call me pathetic but the Terminator films mean a lot to me. Yes I am a film fanatic but as a boy growing up I would watch these films and I really got some great entertainment out of them and still do. I just hate when Hollywood "suits" who have college degrees but no experience watching or working on films get to make the decisions on what they think is best for a franchise that they know nothing about. I understand films are for making money but when you get to a 3rd or 4th installation of a series then you really need to consider the fans as well that got you there in the first place by purchasing the tickets, dvds, vhs tapes, laser disc, pinball machines, toys, etc.......
