Best "Super-Cheesy" Date: The Fantastic Four
If you are looking for some serious superhero action, be sure to stay away from Fantastic Four. A slow starter that never really develops an interesting plot, FF is sure to please the cheese lovers in the audience. The story is predictable, the acting passing fair, and the action barely interesting. At times, the entire flick seems to stand on Jessica Alba's screen presence—and really, she's probably the only thing that even sparks of talent here—and even that's pushing it. If you and your date have a hankerin' for a relatively faithful no-frills adaptation of a comic loved by kids the world over (including you, no doubt), then Fantastic Four may be just the thing... If, however, you are looking for a super-serving of gravitas and embrace-your-destiny angst, then head for the cave... the Bat Cave that is.
Best "Super-Action" Date: Batman Begins
Ok, so I know this one has been out for a little while, but it's so good that even time can't dim the recommendation. Are things getting a little intense in your relationship? Are you looking for a flick to match your mood? This one fits the bill. Darker than its predecessors, Batman Begins follows Bruce Wayne's journey to the "dark side" to become the Dark Knight—embracing his destiny as the vigilante savior of a hopelessly corrupt Gotham. This adaptation is ideal for Batman fans and the uninitiated alike, as it tells the entire back story and explains all of legend and lore that's just assumed in earlier installments. Warning though—if you're depending on the romance between the leads to jumpstart your own date, forget it. This flick is heavy on the action and light on the romance—so stash some strawberries and chocolate in your trunk to set the after-movie mood. Of course, you could always don some black leather and a cape...
